This past weekend, I attended the Steering Committee Meeting for sanctioned volunteers of the National Guard Family Readiness Groups of the state of Wyoming. (Quite the mouthful!) We met at the Guernsey Training Center and planned the activities for the next training year. Each National Guard unit has a Family Readiness Group, consisting of volunteers who are trained in a variety of areas, such as resiliency, mental health, and leadership. We assist our soldiers’ families in times of crisis, and especially during deployments, by providing resources and support. This weekend, I especially appreciated the suicide prevention training we received, along with information about mental health professionals who are standing by to support our National Guard family.
